Cat Eye Care – Do You Properly Care For Your Cat?

As the owner of a cat loving, you want your feline friend to be as healthy as possible, and much of this means taking care of his eyes. You should frequently inspect the eyes of your cat and if you notice any changes or problems, seek prompt medical care before the health of your cat is impacted. There are several things you can do for your cat on a regular basis can help keep eyes healthy, but are you willing to invest the time to do? One of the easiest things you can do for your cat is to keep the eyes clean and free of mucus, which could grow and become an eye infection raging. Use a damp cloth and gently wipe his eyes at least once a day or as soon as you notice mucous. This small step goes a long way to take care of your cat’s eyes. You must also protect the eyes of your cat at any time you need to use chemical treatments on the skin, such as flea dips. If your cat has long hair, you should keep the cut so that it remains in his eyes. Everything that comes into contact with eyes may cause irritation and even lead to infection, so this is an important step in caring for your cat’s eyes. When you look at the eyes of your cat, they should be moist and clear and free of mucous. Any otherwise could indicate a problem that may need veterinary treatment. Although your cat will not enjoy it, you should clean their eyes at least once a week, even if you then wash with a cloth and water every day, they still need to be cleaned. You can ask your veterinarian for advice on what to do, and May suggest a commercial product that you can use, or you can make your own. To make your own cat eye cleaning solution, mix about 1 capful of baby shampoo with about 20 caps of water. Soak a cotton or cotton swab into the solution and use it to clean the eye area, starting with the eye and working outwards. Once you’re finished, use another cotton ball with only water and rinse eyes the same way. If your cat develops an eye infection, your vet will likely prescribe antibiotic medicine, you speak directly to him in the form of eye drops. Again, your cat will not like this treatment, but for his own good, and something you must do if you want it to be healthy. Ophthalmic ointments are much easier to use, but if you apply too much at once, you could worsen the problem, you must be careful. Few people know how important it is to take care of their cat’s eyes, and often do not even think about until a problem develops. By performing proper care of cats eyes, and asking for veterinary care problems early, you ensure that your cat remains healthy and happy, so it can be with you for a long time to come!
